Senior Journalist Faiyaz Dilbar Passes Away, had deep connection with Urdu Literature and Kashmiri Art

Srinagar: Kashmir's famous playwright, poet and senior journalist Fayaz Dilbar passed away. The journalist, suffering from lung disease, breathed his last in a hospital in Srinagar on the evening of 9 November 2025. He was 68 years old. Fayaz was originally a resident of Rajouri Kadal in downtown Srinagar.
Fayaz Dilbar started his journalism career with Urdu daily "Srinagar Times". He started his own local news agency KNB in the early 1980s with his partner Imdad Saki. Operating from the Dar Building at Madina Chowk, KNB became one of the most active news agencies of its time.
In 1988, Fayaz moved to Delhi and became involved in visual media and short film making with renowned journalist Vinod Dua. After living in New Delhi for two decades, he returned to Kashmir, and started living in Harwan, Srinagar.

Fayaz An accomplished writer and filmmaker, was known for his deep association with Urdu literature and Kashmiri art. He was also recently in the news for initiating legal action against a US-based NGO for allegedly using his songs without credit in a music album.
Along with his literary and journalistic activities, Fayaz Dilbar had in recent years devoted himself to the Kashmir Art and Artists Foundation (KAAF), which he founded with his wife.
