Bharat-24 Channel Anchor and Amar Ujala Digital Journalist in Jail, Accused of Running Blackmailing and Extortion Syndicate

Sector-58 Noida police on Monday arrested Bharat 24 channel anchor Shazia Nisar and Amar Ujala Digital journalist Adarsh ​​Jha on charges of running a blackmailing and extortion syndicate. Both were produced in the court, from where they were sent to jail in judicial custody for 14 days.


According to the FIR lodged in Noida Sector 58 police station, on April 14, 2025, Shazia threatened several officials of Bharat 24 to implicate them in a false rape case. In return, she first demanded Rs 5 crore, then the amount increased to Rs 65 crore. Shazia's friend journalist Adarsh ​​Jha was also supporting her in this blackmailing.


Along with the FIR lodged by Bharat 24 channel head Dr. Jagdish Chandra, the channel management has also handed over an audio tape to the police as evidence. Shazia and Adarsh ​​also went to Jaipur to meet Dr. Jagdish Chandra, whose video recording is also available. Police have found 34.50 lakh cash in the raid at Shazia's house.


Bharat 24' management has lodged a total of 3 FIRs in this case so far. The first by the MD and Group Editor of the channel, the second by Consulting Editor Mrs. Anita Hada and the third by HR Head Mrs. Anu Sridhar.


Shazia Nisar is the same journalist who went viral for reporting the Ukraine war in a dramatic way while working in Republic Bharat. In November 2022, she left Republic Bharat and joined Dr. Jagdish Chandra's channel as an anchor. It is alleged that after some time she started threatening the editor, HR head and other seniors to register false cases like rape and sexual harassment.


Consulting Editor Anita Hada and HR Head Anu Sridhar have also lodged an FIR against Shazia, her mother Naseem Bano and Adarsh ​​Jha. It includes unwanted demands in the office, indecency, threats and threats of filing a false sexual harassment case.


After the FIR, police arrested both the accused and presented them in the court of Civil Judge (Junior Division-II), Gautam Buddha Nagar. Senior advocate Deepak Chauhan argued on behalf of the prosecution. During the hearing, Shazia created a ruckus in the court and made allegations against the police officers. Judge Juhi Anand ordered both the accused to be sent to jail in judicial custody for 14 days. According to the order, both will remain in custody till June 21.
