Chinese mainland reports 101 new confirmed COVID-19 cases



China: Chinese health authority said Wednesday that it received reports of 101 new confirmed COVID-19 cases on the Chinese mainland Tuesday, including 98 locally-transmitted cases and three imported ones.

Eighty-nine of the 98 locally-transmitted cases were reported in Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, eight in Liaoning Province, and one in Beijing Municipality, the National Health Commission said in its daily report. No deaths related to the disease or new suspected COVID-19 cases were reported Tuesday. Also on Tuesday, 10 cases were discharged from hospital, and 325 close contacts ended their medical observation. The number of severe cases increased by five on Tuesday from the previous day. There were 79 confirmed imported cases on Tuesday, with two in severe conditions; there were still one suspected case, the commission said.

The Chinese mainland had reported a total of 2,056 imported cases with zero death and 1,977 discharged from hospital.
As of 24:00 Tuesday, the total number of confirmed cases on the Chinese mainland had reached 84,060, including 482 cases still under treatment, with 25 in severe conditions.

Altogether 78,944 patients had been discharged from hospital and 4,634 had died of the disease, the commission said. A total of 783,053 close contacts had been traced, with 15,034 still under medical observation by the day. The commission said that 27 new asymptomatic cases were reported on the mainland, including eight imported cases, and 51 asymptomatic cases that were later confirmed to be active COVID-19 cases on Tuesday.

Nine cases, including five imported cases, were released from medical observation on Tuesday and 273 asymptomatic cases, including 91 imported ones, were still under medical observation, according to the commission.

By the end of Tuesday, the commission received reports of 2,884 confirmed cases with 23 deaths from the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (SAR), 46 confirmed cases from Macao SAR and 467 confirmed cases, including seven deaths from Taiwan.
