Journalists Killed in February 2025

The year 2025 was not a good one for journalists worldwide. Incidents of violence against journalists continued throughout the year. However, the month of February was relatively respite, as only one incident of serious violence against a journalist was reported across the world this month. On February 26, 2025, a female journalist was killed in Ukraine. We are giving brief information about that incident:

On February 26, 2025, journalist Tetiana Mykolaivna Kulyk and her surgeon husband, Pavlo Ivanchov, were killed in their home in a Russian drone strike in the Bucha district of Kyiv Oblast. Tetiana Kulyk was a journalist and editor-in-chief of the editorial department of the state-run news agency Ukrinform. She hosted the program "The Nation of the Invincibles" and served as editor-in-chief of the agency's multimedia department. She was also a member of the National Union of Journalists of Ukraine.

Tetiana Kulyk also worked as a TV presenter and editor-in-chief of the Public Affairs Program Department at the Central Channel (KDTRK), the World Service of Radio Broadcasting and Public Broadcasting of Ukraine. She studied at the National University of Culture and Arts. Kulyk began her career as a literary editor. In 2015-2017, she was deputy director of Khreshchatyk, 26, a branch of the Kyiv Regional Directorate of the National Public Broadcasting Company of Ukraine.

According to Ukrinform Director General Serhiy Cherevaty, "Tetiana Kulyk was an excellent journalist, she produced many programs about our struggle and our heroes. Just a day ago, we discussed preparing an interview with Kirylo Budanov. He will always remain alive in our hearts and our memories. We will avenge our comrade with materials that expose the war crimes of the aggressor. And, as Kirylo Budanov said in this interview, all executioners of the Ukrainian people will certainly be punished."
