Senior Indian Journalist Rajdeep Sardesai wins Battle Against Prostate Cancer, says this Diwali is Special for me
New Delhi: India's renowned journalist, Rajdeep Sardesai, was diagnosed with prostate cancer four months ago. He shared this information in a post on his X account. The senior journalist with the TV Today Network revealed that he was diagnosed with cancer in July 2025, just weeks after celebrating his 60th birthday. However, after a successful robotic surgery in August, he learned to look at life from a new perspective.
Rajdeep explained that a routine medical checkup changed his world. A message from his doctor turned everything upside down. "How else can I get cancer?" was the question that kept resonating in his mind. He was encouraged when his son said, "If it's cancer, it's better to have prostate cancer, because it grows slowly and can be completely cured."
Rajdeep Sardesai consulted with top doctors in the country and underwent robotic surgery at a private hospital in Delhi in August 2025. The surgery was successful, and scans revealed that the cancer had not spread. He is now under active surveillance, but his outlook on life is more grateful and positive than ever.
Rajdeep Sardesai expressed his heartfelt gratitude to his treatment team—Dr. Anshuman Agarwal, Dr. Jaswinder Paintal, Dr. Gopal Sharma—as well as his family and friends. He said, "No medicine can replace the comfort of the love and support of home."
The senior journalist recounted how his wife monitored his daily meals, his son guided him through every medical step, his daughter and son-in-law took leave to be with him, and his friends supported him through every difficulty. He said, "Every person should have a WhatsApp group that doesn't judge, but simply encourages." He added, "Life isn't always easy, but the opportunity to live it is the greatest blessing."
Rajdeep appealed to everyone in the country for healthcare, saying, "Millions of people in India lack access to cancer screening and treatment." If we want to bring about change, investment in the public health system, public-private partnerships and better facilities are essential. This Diwali, he appealed to everyone to donate to social organizations working in the field of health, so that someone else's Diwali can also be brightened.
