Former Journalist and Actress Accused a Politician of Inviting her to Hotel, MLA has Resigned from the Post of Youth State President
Kerala: Former journalist and Malayalam actress Rini Ann George has alleged, without naming anyone, that a youth leader of a major political party in the state sent her objectionable messages on multiple occasions. Addressing the media in Kochi on August 20, 2025, Rini claimed that the leader even offered her a five-star hotel stay.
According to Rini, she had told the leader that she would complain about him to the party, but he continued his misbehaviour. "He called me to a location. When I threatened him, he challenged me to go ahead. He said, yes go ahead, tell whoever you want. Who cares," Rini said.
Rini said the party should take action against the leader as complaints are coming against the man from within the organisation as well. She told reporters that wives and daughters of party leaders have also had bad experiences with him. She said she decided to speak up after seeing similar allegations by other women on social media.
The actress said, "I want to ask which woman will these politicians protect when they could not protect the women of their own family. These are the women who see reels and elect people like him to power."
Rini also told a television channel that the young politician has now become an MLA. However, when asked the name of the leader, she did not answer. But within a few hours it became clear from various media reports that the leader Rini Ann George is talking about is Palakkad Congress MLA Rahul Mamkootathil.
The Bharatiya Janata Party on Wednesday took out a protest march to the office of Congress MLA from Palakkad Rahul Mamkootathil and demanded his resignation. Following the allegations, Rahul Mamkootathil has resigned from the post of Youth Congress state president. However, he will continue to be an MLA from Palakkad assembly seat.
