Female Journalist Found Dead in News Portal Office, was to get Married two Weeks Away

Ritumoni Roy, 27, was a resident of Guwahati and lived separately from her family.

Guwahati: Ritumoni Roy, anchor and reporter for Guwahati's digital news portal "Sach The Reality," was found dead under suspicious circumstances in her office on Sunday night, November 23, 2025. A suicide note found at the scene suggests a suicide case.

Ritumoni was scheduled to marry Debashish Bora on December 5th. Invitations had been distributed, and the mehendi ceremony had already taken place. Questions are being raised as to why Ritumoni took such a shocking step just 15 days before the wedding.

When colleagues arrived at the office on the morning of Monday, November 24, 2025, the door was locked from inside. When they forced it open, they found Ritumoni hanging from the ceiling fan. She had fashioned a noose from her shawl.

A short suicide note was found at the scene, which read: "This is for everyone's good. Sorry." The forensic team has sent the note to a lab to confirm the handwriting. The body has been sent to Guwahati Medical College for a postmortem.

Ritumoni Roy, 27, was a resident of Guwahati and lived separately from her family. CCTV footage shows that on the night of November 23rd, Ritumoni entered the office as usual, placed her bag, and began working on her computer. She then placed a plastic chair on the table, made a noose out of her shawl, and took her own life.

Police are trying to determine Ritumoni's circumstances and the possible cause of the incident. The post-mortem report and phone examination are expected to provide more information.

According to the portal's owner, Shubham Agarwal, "Ritumoni usually worked the morning shift and always had the office keys with her. Sunday night, she stayed late, perhaps because she had some work pending." Agarwal added, "We also gave her the 'Best Employee' award. She was always professional and never complained."

Before joining 'Sach The Reality,' she had worked at 'Pratham Khabar,' 'Ishan News,' and several other digital platforms.

The night before her death, Ritumoni had attended a pre-wedding ceremony at a close friend's house. She interacted normally there. No one could have predicted that she would be found in such a state the next day.
