Journalist Brutally Murdered in Prayagraj; Main Accused Arrested in Encounter
Prayagraj: The main accused in the murder of 54-year-old journalist Laxmi Narayan Singh has been arrested by Prayagraj police following an encounter. The accused has been identified as Vishal, and the motive for the crime is believed to be a personal rivalry. The second accused in the attack is currently still at large.
Journalist Laxmi Narayan Singh was attacked with knives near Harsh Hotel in the Civil Lines area of the city on October 23, 2025. He sustained multiple stab wounds to the abdomen. The critically injured journalist was admitted to the SRN Hospital at the medical college, where he succumbed to his injuries in the trauma center.
Laxmi Narayan Singh, also known as Pappu, was the nephew of former High Court Bar Association president Ashok Singh and resided in the Shakuntala Kunj Colony of the Dhoomanganj police station area.
Additional Commissioner of Police, Ajay Pal Sharma, stated on Friday that evidence collected from the crime scene and statements from eyewitnesses revealed that LN Singh was attacked by Vishal and some other individuals. Vishal had purchased a knife from the fish market in Khuldabad, which was used in the attack on the journalist.

During the encounter, the accused Vishal sustained three bullet wounds to his legs and was subsequently admitted to the trauma center at SRN Hospital. According to the police, efforts are underway to apprehend another accused, Sahil, who was also involved in the murder, while two other suspects have been taken into custody for questioning.
The initial police investigation revealed that the accused Vishal and the deceased journalist had an altercation a few days prior to the incident. The exact reason for the rivalry will be determined through further police investigation.
