Punjab: Gurpiar Singh, a journalist and anchor with Canada-based media outlet Hamdard TV, was abducted from Mohali on the evening of November 4, 2025. According to reports, two Nihangs allegedly kidnapped the journalist after entering the channel's local office in Naya Gaon.
The two Nihangs reportedly entered the Hamdard TV local office at G-34, Shivalik Vihar, Naya Gaon, at around 5:15 PM and forcibly took the journalist with them. One of the kidnappers has been identified as Gurdeep Singh, who is allegedly associated with the Sikh Bandi Chudao Morcha.
Based on information received from Amar Singh Bhullar, the Canada-based owner and Chief Editor of 'Hamdard TV', the SSP Mohali and other senior police officers have launched an investigation into the matter. A police spokesperson stated that all angles, including personal and professional disputes, are being investigated.

Police are reviewing CCTV footage from the surrounding area to trace the kidnappers. Statements from eyewitnesses are also being recorded. According to one eyewitness, the suspects arrived on a two-wheeler and fled in the same direction after the incident.
Acting on the instructions of DGP Gaurav Yadav and SSP Mohali, several police teams have been deployed to investigate the case. The motive behind the kidnapping is currently unclear. Police have appealed to the public to come forward with any information they may have regarding the abduction or the suspects.
