Suspicious Death of Telugu News Channel Anchor in Hyderabad, Suicide Suspected
Hyderabad: A case of suspicious death of 40-year-old Telugu channel journalist and anchor Swetcha Votarkar has come to light. Her body was found hanging from a fan in her residence in Jawaharnagar, Chikkadpally on Friday night. Initial investigation has led police to term it a case of suicide.
Police said a case of suicide has been registered following a complaint lodged by Swetcha's father, in which he has blamed a man for his daughter's death.
The incident came to light when Swetcha's younger daughter returned home from school in the evening and found the bedroom door locked. After repeatedly knocking and not getting any response, she got worried and informed the neighbours.
According to Chikkadpally police inspector Raju Naik, the police station received a call from Swetcha's neighbours about the incident at around 9:30 pm. "When we entered her room, she was found hanging from the ceiling fan," the inspector said. He said an ambulance was called immediately and the paramedical staff confirmed her death. The police called the forensics team and also collected evidence.
