Animals enjoy winter days in the city of Harbin, northeast China

All animals, tropical or of the frigid zone, are enjoying their winter days in the city of Harbin in China's northernmost province of Heilongjiang, thanks to the meticulous care by the zookeepers. In the North Forest Zoo, Giant panda Sijia is among dozens of species of animals in the zoo. It was brought to the zoo in the summer of 2016. It is now living in a detached house with a playing ground.Though a female, it eats bamboo shoots like males.

Red panda is a species coming under second class national protection in China. The group of red pandas were brought from southwest China's Sichuan Province and are now housed in a spacious hall. Despite the freezing winter, the keepers would take them out for a rolling on the snow-covered ground every day. The keepers would add albumen powder to their meals as a nutritious supplement.

In a free-ranging area of the zoo, there are nine wolves. A zookeeper took about 15 kilograms of beef and mutton and scattered them so that each will get its portion.Opposite to the wolf area is a hogcote, where 30 wild boars enjoy their snowy winter days. The zoo has built a cottage for them to tide over the winter. The 30 wild boars consume about 150 kilograms of dried fodder a day.
