S KOREA PROTEST: South Koreans continue massive protest against Presiden...

South Koreans continue massive candlelight protest against President Park Geun-hye, demanding the leader, impeached over a corruption scandal, step down immediately. Organisers of the anti-president rally estimated the crowd at about 300,000. It was largely peaceful, as were the previously rallies, with songs and speeches striking a festive tone mixed with angry calls for her to quit.

Park's presidential powers have been suspended since the vote for impeachment on December 9, which set the stage for her to become South Korea's first elected leader to be thrown out of office. The Constitutional Court must first uphold the motion. "The Prime Minister Hwang Kyo-ahn, who is no better than an accomplice in serious crime, should resign too. Far from resignation, however, he is still sticking to President Park Geun-hye's wrong policy. So, hundreds of thousands of people gathered here to require the immediate resignation of Park Geun-hye and Hwang Kyo-ahn, and quick decision of the Constitutional Court for her expulsion," protest leader, Ahn Jin-geol, said.
