Times of India & Dainik Jagran retain top spot
According to the IRS (Indian Readership Survey) first-quarter report, The Times of India (TOI) retains its position on the top among the English dailies with a jump of 36,000 readers in the quarter. TOI now has an AIR of 76.52 lakh as compared to 76.16 lakh in the previous quarter.

Hindi daily Dainik Jagran has created another milestone by clinging on to the top spot for the 22nd consecutive time.In the first quarter of 2012 the paper has added 16.3 lakh new readers taking the total number to a whopping 5.63 crore. According to an IRS survey, your favourite Hindi Daily has 1.8 crore more readers in comparison to its nearest rival. Dainik Jagran has become the highest read daily even among the higher middle class of the society.It has managed a readership of 1.06 crore in this section and the total number of readers for this Hindi Daily and magazines published by this group has gone up to 6.09 crore during the first quarter of 2012.
With this achievement it has also become the largest read publishing house.Not only this, the paper has been awarded the status of consumer super brand as well as business super brand. Also Dainik Jagran has been considered as the most trusted newspaper in an independent survey carried out by BBC-Reuters.
