A military ceremony was held at a local airport for 13 soldiers who were killed in a car bomb attack on a bus carrying off-duty military personnel in the central Turkish city of Kayseri on Saturday (December 17).
Turkey's top military brass attended the ceremony along with families of the soldiers who prayed for their loved ones. The coffins were then moved into a plane to be flown to their homes for families to hold funeral services.Thirteen soldiers were killed and 56 people wounded in the blast near a university campus that comes a week after deadly twin bombings targeted police in Istanbul and may further infuriate a public smarting from multiple attacks by Islamic and Kurdish militants this year, and a failed coup in July.
