Thailand celebrates the annual water festival, Elephants makes splash.

Elephants in Thailand's ancient capital of Ayutthaya sprayed water from their trunks at people on April 11, ahead of the start of Thailand's traditional New Year. Thailand celebrates the annual water festival, which is also a major tourist attraction, from April 13-15. The Songkran festival, which marks Thai New Year, is often referred to as the world's biggest water fight - a time when revelers splash water on each other. Everyone, young and old, is fair game. Thais believe water washes away bad luck and helps usher in prosperity. Apart for the big splash, the new year is also a time for family gatherings, prayer and visits to the graveyard to pay respects to deceased relatives
