In a harrowing rescue attempt, a man saves his wife from falling to her death by grabbing her hair after she tried to commit suicide in northwest China’s Shaanxi Province. On Sunday in Shiquan County, Ankang City, police rushed to the top of a residential building after the woman’s family alerted them of her suicide attempt. The footage shows the husband in a gray coat grabbing the woman’s hair as she dangles from the side of the building.
Rescuers managed to pull both of them to safety, eventually sending her home. "We had only one idea at that time was to save her, not let her fall down from our hands. So we rushed to her and controlled her right hand. We persuaded her while pulled her up," said Zuo Yu, a local policeman. The reason for her suicide attempt is unknown.
