The 5th China Central Television (CCTV) Lunar New Year Cup Lion Dance Championship wrapped up in Dongguan in south China's Guangdong Province on feb 4. Six teams from the cities of Foshan, Shanwei, Shenzhen and Zhongshan took part in the competition at Huayang Lake National Wetland Park. Breathtaking performances by skillful lion dancers jumping on 21 pillars won much applauses from audiences. Half of the pillars were about two meters in height with the highest one reaching 2.5 meters.
After intense competition from all the participating teams,the Huangfeihong Zhonglian dragon and lion dance team from Foshan finally took the crown. Lion dance is a traditional celebration for people in Guangdong Province during the Spring Festival.
