A fascinating lantern show is being held in Zigong City of southwest China's Sichuan Province. The show is part of the annual Zigong International Dinosaur Lantern Festival and Trade Fair (commonly known as Zigong Lantern Festival), which started last Wednesday in Zigong City. Unlike occidental light shows which feature tungsten bulbs, florescent tubes, LEDs and even laser beams, oriental light shows still stick to their traditional concepts of using paper and fabric to shape up the various objects of fame and fortune. The only change is from traditional lighting source of wax candles to electrical bulbs, tubes and LEDs inside these lanterns.
Zigong Lantern Festival is one of the largest folk cultural activities in China, which attracts people from China and around the world every year. Lantern shows from the city were also held in many countries around the world such as the United States, South Korea, Japan, and Netherlands. This year's lantern show will last till March 12th.
