Strong earth quake hits Aceh off Sumatra, Indonesia



Nearly 100 people have died and hundreds more have been injured after shops and houses collapsed in the Indonesian province of Aceh after a 6.5 magnitude earthquake struck at 5am (9am AEDT) on Wednesday. In Pidie Jaya regency alone, 125 houses and 14 mosques collapsed and several roads were riven apart. The military commander of Aceh, Major General Tatang Sulaiman said 97 people had been killed from four districts in Pidie Jaya regency.
