Christmas preparation in Lowry Park Zoo, Tampa, Florida

Zoo-keepers provided some holiday cheer for a few endangered animals living at Lowry Park Zoo in Tampa, Florida on December 23. A critically endangered Malayan tiger cub, named Berisi, inspected a Christmas tree hesitantly, before her mom knocked it down. Berisi is the only one of her kind born at the zoo, officials there said. A tapir calf, called Tengahari, also from Malaya and born at the zoo in September, sniffed out her treats, while a southern white rhino calf named Kipenzi chewed on Christmas tree branches. Kipenzi was also born in September and could grow to be as big as 4,500 pounds (2141 kilograms) as an adult.
