Ostrich attempts to run away from a farm in China

An ostrich has created a sensation online recently by escaping from its fence and running like a galloping horse on a village road in Gongping Town, south China's Guangdong Province. An ostrich can run as fast as 65 kilometers per hour. The escaped ostrich running at its full speed avoided all obstacles tactfully. However, after it rushed into a roadside field, it fell down and got hurt on its leg.

"There were so many cars. It tried to keep away from cars all the time, and so it was running in a sort of zigzag way. Then it ran into a field," said a local resident. The ostrich enjoyed the freedom of being at large for two days, from Tuesday to Thursday, before being caught back by its owner. The happy time for the ostrich was however a torture to its owner. To get it back meant a lot of trouble.

"I couldn't sleep well when it went missing," said the owner of the ostrich. After getting it back, the first thing its owner did was to give it a good shower and then reinforced the fences damaged by the ostrich. The ostrich's successful "prison break" and wild run together with its graceful dance became an internet hit. Many neighbors took a special trip to catch a glimpse of the brave animal.
