At a morning tea event, Italian chef Massimo Bottura, winner of the prestigious award in 2016 for his restaurant Osteria Francescana, celebrity chef Heston Blumenthal and other well-known chefs posed for media in front of a Melbourne laneway mural tribute. Blumenthal, known for his multi-sensory dining, is set to receive the Lifetime Achievement Award 2017 at the ceremony that will be held in Melbourne on Wednesday night. This is only the second time in the award's 15-year history where it's held outside London. The Best 50 list, which was launched in 2002, has gained prominence among chefs around the globe, rivalling the long-standing Michelin guides with its star system.
