Pole dancers parade through streets in southern Taiwan for local politic...

A parade of pole dancers on the back of jeeps blocked the streets in Chiayi, a city in southern Taiwan, on Tuesday (January 3). The celebrations were held for local politician Tung Hsiang, who died last month. They featured a procession of drummers, people in costumes representing deities and 50 pole dancers.

Dancers and strippers are a familiar sight at funerals in southern Taiwan, where it is customary to send the deceased off with pompous events. Tung's family organised the event to honour the politician who had been active in local politics for years.
