Uma Bharti comes out in support of Nirmal Baba

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Uma Bharti on Thursday termed the criticism of Nirmal Baba as wrong, saying only Hindu spiritual leaders are being singled out for criticism.“Why are spiritual leaders from other religions not being targeted,” she said when asked about Nirmal Baba during her visit to the city. The most frequent visitor to the RSS headquarters, apart from senior BJP leader M M Joshi, Bharti had a meeting with the RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat in the morning and later with senior ideologue M G Vaidya at his residence.

She said, “Attempt is being made to defame Nirmal Baba. It is wrong to do anything that will dent the people’s faith. Hindu religion has been turned into a laboratory.”She, however, obliquely criticised Anna Hazare and Baba Ramdev, saying an attempt should be made to evolve an alternative political system rather than criticising MPs. “Criticism alone won’t solve the problems. We will have to give a political alternative. A good political leadership should come to the fore before the next Lok Sabha election. If you have the capacity to provide an alternative, you should provide it. Criticism of Parliamentarians is like insulting Parliament,” she said. On the issue of purported differences within the NDA over the candidature of Hamid Ansari for the Presidential elections, Bharti said, “The NDA hasn’t yet had a meeting on the issue. They will decide when it comes to that.”
